Inventec Launches New Smartphone Plant in Nanjing for Xiaomi Mi5
January 19, 2016

Inventec has completed the second-phase expansion of its smartphone factory in Nanjing, China, which schedules to begin small-scale production in February and ramp up capacity in March, reported Economic Daily News on January 19. The US$50-million expansion plan was approved by the Board of Directors in June 2014. Inventec is one of the major contract manufacturers for Xiaomi, taking up around 50% or 40 million units of Xiaomi's overall shipments last year. With the new facility beginning operation, Inventec expects to boost its capacity to 86 million smartphones this year, aiming for a larger share of Xiaomi's contract manufacturing orders, especially the upcoming Mi5.
